Hi there, I’m Christina, the face behind Milk & Oat and lover of all things warm! Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. Grab a cup of tea, take a deep breath or three and stay a while, I’m here to share the knowledge I’ve learned over the years. While my career in Nutrition has been a long time in the making, my path in life has led me to what I specialize in and it has been a windy road to get there. My adult life started when I was a teenager with my first job in a restaurant. I didn’t find myself serving, I found myself in the back of house working under a Chef and Sous Chef.

I soaked in the knowledge, learned the skill and found a love for food that I didn’t even know was inside of me. As a teenager with a first job, I was one of the few who stayed, soaking in the adrenaline rush and taking every extra hour of work I could. In my early 20’s I found myself, like so many other young adults living I guess you could say a fun life but the fun never stopped and while I had always been a healthy eater some other habits needed to change and one day I woke up and never looked back. I helped open a restaurant, went to school for cooking, dabbled in dipping a lot of strawberries in chocolate but found myself wanting to put more time into nutrition and less into the amazing amount of hours of cooking I had done. I then found myself working in a Health Food Store, found and married the love of my life and had two beautiful girls.

Pregnancy was when my passion in nutrition took over and I found a strong love for the female body from pregnancy to birth to postpartum. I now had the health of myself and my baby in my hands and I knew that I wanted to feel my best during pregnancy and the transition into motherhood. I researched all the scientific articles, ate the foods that made me feel my best, really found what worked for me (that is the ticket, everyone is different) and went to school for Nutrition (Board Certified and all), Herbalism and took extra courses on the female hormonal system, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and more.

While I am a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Natural Nutrition-Clinical Practitioner and make my living through consultations on helping Mama’s and Mama’s-to-be thrive, this blog is so much more than that. It brings it all together; my technical skills in the kitchen, my certification in nutrition and my education and passion in pregnancy and postpartum. Make yourself something warm to eat and sit and rest for a while. You will not only find posts on evidence-based nutrition, but also personal tips that make me feel my best (no scientific research to back these up), musings on motherhood, and living a simple and intentional life, and if you are interested book a consult with me and let me help you become the best version of yourself.
Thank you for being here, sending you a warm cup of tea!
